Before They Get Famous
7 August 2007 by: Neil
Before they Get Famous...or perhaps shortly there after.

Today we have a follow-up on a story we informed you all about way back when this site first opened. As a few of you may remember, a group called Before They Get Famous is running auctions of memorabilia related to up and coming artists and donating the benefits to the UK Cancer Research foundation.

The auctions are live on ebay... Click here to view them!

There's some top notch artists on there and some hidden gems so they're all worth a look and a listen on the beforetheygetfamous.com site.

Please try & spread the word to friends, forums etc and, together, we can make a real difference to Cancer Research UK's proceeds from this (as well as help those super generous artists get their tunes out!)

Good luck!

The Liam item in question is a handwritten and signed lyric sheet for Try Try Try.

Good luck all, and happy bidding!

Liam and SadieOur friend Em has sent along some pictures from two slightly recent shows:
2007-01-17 - The Spitz - London, England
2006-12-21 - Royal Northern College - Manchester, England
Also, a recent post on the band's official message board has shed light on the setlist of last week's Night & Day Cafe show:
  • Try Try Try
  • Is This Love?
  • Roadsigns and Red Lights
  • Mourners of St Pauls
  • New One
Thanks to Prudence for that bit. And thanks to MrSandman for the following:
MAY 4TH - Cool as Folk at Shefield University's Raynor lounge With Liam Frost, Liz Green and Eddie Harrison.

New gig announced
6 February 2007 by: Neil
Andy writes in to say:
Hi Neil
Just to let you know, Liam will be playing at Bush Hall, Shepherd’s Bush, on 3rd March on the Strumming Monkey night.
Tickets on sale in the next couple of days, I’ll let you know more details as I get them.
Kind regards
Andy
You can find more details on Bush Hall's Strumming Monkey page including the following summary of the premise:
A new monthly night at the fabulous Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush, Strumming Monkey is a gig with a difference. There will be a headliner of course, but instead of the usual support bands, anything goes: comedy, film, acrobatics, dance, w’va. It’s a whole night of stuff. [...] Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm so get there early. The fun goes on until 1am
Sounds fun! (or as Bush Hall puts it) Top banana!
New Single Eminent

She Painted Pictures SingleMany thanks to MrSandman for pointing out that the new She Painted Pictures single is slated for release on the 12th of February. There are previews of the tracks and places where you can preorder mp3s on the Lavolta digital store. HMV has both the 7" and the CD up for preorder. Amazon seems to only have the CD, and there's no mention what so ever on piccadilly, which seems to be par for the course unfortunately.

So the new b sides are (Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?, Many A Good Man Has Been Put Under The Bridge By A Woman, and She Painted Pictures (Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly Remix).
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

In the midst of the quiet winter, Liam made a short post over on the official message board.
I live right by the BBC Manchester building, where both of their shows are based...and messers Radcliffe and Riley are good friends of mine! More than happy to step in last minute...

I really enjoyed that Radio 2 show, hope y'all did to. Check out my self-editing on Shall We Dance and Try Try Try...can't swear on the Beeb!

Everyone have a good Christmas and New Year? I'm a busy, busy bee...writing songs in my flat!

Liam xo

It makes a bit more sense in context.
New Live Recording

Dave has once again been kind enough to record a show for us all to hear, the recent Manchester gig (21/12/06). You can grab it here. It's got a great setlist and sounds incredible. It's also the first recording I've come across of Liam covering Are You the One by Nick Cave.

If anyone happened to snap any pictures, let me know!
Free Christmas Download
13 December 2006 by: Neil
Members of the band's mailing list were sent a link today to the Lavolta online store where one can find a free download! The song is River, a Joni Mitchell cover.

A Merry Christmas indeed.

Janurary London Show
29 November 2006 by: Neil
It has yet to be independently confirmed, but The Spitz in London has Liam's name up to perform on 17 January. I'm not sure if tickets are still available or not, but I'd encourage anyone interested to run!!! not walk!!! to the nearest ticket vendor to see about that before the news hits the official page and mailing list.

Imagine that. A show on my birthday. How nice of them. An honour indeed.

Channel MChannel M has a streamable video up of the bands performance at Cathedral Gardens (Swap Festival) back on the 16th of July. Looks great, sounds great, is great! While you're over there, be sure to check out the solo acoustic Liam performance they have up of Liam live at the Opus Room from two weeks earlier.
